For lovers of Jurassic Park, and those who are still terrified, George Owen gives us a run-down of some of the most popular and familiar dinosaurs. He briefly summarizes the different age periods scientist labeled these creatures in, then he devotes a section to twenty of the most well-known. At the end you will find the author included some fascinating history and a short story about a lost island. I found Awesome Dinosaurs: An Illustrated and Informative Guide informative and George Owen very detailed in his descriptions. This book is great for kids and adults, but if you are expecting this Palaeontology book  to line-up with movies, you will be disappointed. Because of the limited amount of facts surrounding dinosaurs, the reader will probably find something they disagree with the author. But there is plenty of information that in this book that every reader will find a favorite, mine was the Spinosaurus.

With great information and awesome illustrations, Awesome Dinosaurs: An Illustrated and Informative Guide (Palaeontology for Everyone Book 1) by George is a wonderful book to learn more about dinosaurs. With just 72 pages, the author packs in a lot of information, and whether you are novice when it comes to dinosaurs or someone who knows a little more about these formidable beasts, this is a fun book to peruse. With a thorough examination of the twenty most recognizable dinosaurs, this is a comprehensive guide written with enough wit to entertain the younger set, and knowledge to make it a serious guide. A truly stupendous educational book that will open your eyes to the fascinating world of dinosaurs. Highly recommend for an informative and enlightening must read.

Author George Owen writes about the popular field of paleontology in this book. Designed to be read by older children, it looks into why dinosaurs are so fascinating and the many different types that once roamed the Earth. The book includes information behind most species of dinosaurs, like Spinosaurus and Archaeopteryx, and tells more about their outer appearance, habitat, and diet. Owen also includes recent scientific discoveries about these reptiles and how scientists are still learning more about them today. At 72 pages, it’s not necessarily that long of a read and most of the pages are filled with colorful pictures to help the reader better imagine the type of dinosaurs they’re reading about. Owen also writes with a fun yet informative style which can make imagining the different species much easier. If you love dinosaurs or are into science, this is a book you’ll definitely want to check out.

Has the fascination with dinosaurs caught up with the children around you? These creatures might be Hollywood monsters and a fascination of all times, but children are in awe of dinosaurs, always wanting to know more about these creatures. Owen provides a clear observation of the day each kid goes through a dinosaur phase in which their word seems to revolve around dinosaurs. This book can take the interests of a child in dinosaurs to the next level and inspire some children to explore their potential in paleontology. Told through a simple approach, the book is perfect for anyone interested in these creatures but intimidated by the concept nature of geology and paleontology. Yet, it is still informative and reflects the passion that children have towards dinosaurs. The plot s also simple enough not to rebuff you if you are not a total enthusiast of dinosaurs.

One has to ask themselves, what is the appeal of dinosaurs when it comes to children? Maybe it has something to do with the face they are monsters in the movies while at the same time are objects of scientific fascination. It could also be that it is simply they are those and everything in between. The most logical answer is that, like any humans young or old, there is a need for connection with our pre-history. If one were to believe that dinosaurs actually existed, then there is a connection that makes their story part of our own. Each child at one time or another goes through a “dinosaur” phase. Some even carry that same fascination into their adult years. The author poses the concept that by learning about dinosaurs, and their history, a child is allowed to explore the world, and at the same time feed the creativity they have. They can garner new knowledge, that will travel with them through their lives, as well as maybe spark an interest in the field of science. With this illustrated guide to dinosaurs, you may very well end up unlocking a whole new adventure for your child.

This was a short, but very educational book about some of the dinosaurs. It covered about 15 of the most commonly known types dinosaurs, each of which had a picture and 3-4 pages of information included. The information was engaging and a little bit scary, but you can tell the author really enjoys telling people about the different dino types. As an "Illustrated and Informative Guide" though I had expected many more illustrations than a single picture of each dinosaur, I expected stuff like Pangea maps showing where the dino types lived or illustrations of them with other dinos they would have lived with. I would have liked to see more structure to this guide, such as a section on a couple different Sauropods and one on Hadrosaurs, or sections where they were grouped together by Era (e.g. Early Jurassic, Upper Cretaceous). While fun and educational, it didn't read like a guide to dinosaurs.

An educational short book on species on dinosaurs, good for kids as it had good illustrations and for adults too, if they want to refresh their knowledge or add to it. This is simple to read book highlighting about 20 species of dinosaurs- an animal that existed long long back and we’re still excited about them and eager to learn more about the. A good place to start.
