About the Author

Yasmin Mossadeghi is currenly the assistant softball coach at the University of California, Davis. She played professional softball in Europe for the German team after competing for CSU Fullerton while in college. She was a NCAA Division I All-American softball player and made the All Big West Honors list for all four years she attended CSU Fullerton. Patricia Laguna, Ph.D. is an associate professor at CSU Fullerton. She received her Ph.D. in sport psychology from USC. I just recently read "Between the Lines" and I was very pleased with how easy it was to read along with how useful the material was in the book. The author is very detailed, so you do not have to be a sports psychologist to understand the content. One of my favorite topics the author covered was the difference between a "Hit" and a "Quality at Bat." Too many times hitters feel their at bat was a failure just because it wasn't recorded as a "hit" in the book. "Between the Lines" helped me to realize that a solid hit that the defense makes a good play on is still a good quality at bat. If hitters take that approach (quality at bats over hits) then their confidence will be higher, leading to more hits.I have been an avid softball player for over 15 years, and a coach for six. I wish I would have read this book when I was player, but now that I have as a coach, I make all my players read it! I really have seen great improvements, especially from my players who tend to lose confidence in their abilities easily.

A big help...took the mystique out of the device. I am old and slow, and made a leap from a primitive 'flip phone' to the Galaxy S 5, and while some of the changes seemed huge at the outset, Dummies helped get me through those changes in a logical manner. Well done.

I'm still in the process of trying to get the most out of my phone so I'm still reading this book. I have found it very helpful I can go back and reread what I don't understand. The book is written for people like me that don't have a great knowledge about electronic devices but really want to learn. I would recommend this book to help learn a new skill, learning how to use a new phone!!

Seems odd -- Smart phones for dummies. I am not a techie, but I like the features of smart phones. Bill Hughes does a great job of explaining this beautiful phone for people like me. I am not a beginner nor an expert; I just want to get better use out of this amazing machine.

This book serves as a basic introduction to first-time S5 users...in most cases it simply tells what various features are rather than how to set them up and use them. There are a few areas where the author goes into more detail, for example phone security. In other areas details are lacking. So as the 3 stars rating ("It's OK") suggests, I am not wildly enthusiastic about it. I also bought 2 other books--Hughes "Help Me! Guide to the Galaxy S5" and Halbert's "Samsung Galaxy S5: The 100% unofficial User Guide". I'm hoping between the three of them I can learn how to take advantage of at least most of what the GS5 has to offer. Honestly, most of what I've learned has been through Youtube video tutorials...and they are free.

My last phone was a flip phone so using the Galaxy S5 was all new to us. We don't have kids to teach us so my husband and I bought this to learn more about the phone.It's rather simplistic.... written for the most basic user who really knows NOTHING about technology. I may not be experienced with smart phones in general but I am an advanced computer user in general and the first few chapters were common knowledge for me. The book has some good info in it but you can learn just as much about your phone from watching free videos on You Tube.

Very comprehensive. You wont believe how much the S5 is capable of.

This Dummies book saved my sanity. My new phone (my first) came with absolutely no user manual and the download from Samsung was such tiny print that I hated using it. This book has enabled me to find and use features I possibly would not have ever used. Somehow manufacturers and instructional manual writers assume that we all have had such a device since the first one and have learned as we upgraded. To come into this market years down the line without much guidance at all is a guidebook to failure and frustration. This well written, humorous book is in a prominent place, near my phone.

Written very plainly and explains how to use this phone very well. Recommended to anyone who needs a simple explanation of how to use a very good phone.

What makes this book unique are the great black and white illustrations along with the story. As mentioned previously, there are several versions of this story. This volume by Howard Pyle, is the original traditional version.The story begins with the great King Uther-Pendragon, who had defeated all his enemies and became the overlord of all England. His advisor was the great prophet Merlin, the wise. Merlin advised the King to hide his new born son, Arthur, because of the many plots against the King. Arthur was hidden by Merlin by having Sir Ector of Bonmaison, raise Arthur. When Arthur was eighteen years old, he drew out a magical sword from a large stone, which Merlin created to prove that Arthur was indeed the real King of England. The rest of the story revolves around creating the Knights of the Round Table, and his love of Queen Guinevere. This is a story about courage, love, betrayal, magic, jealousy, good and evil.In conlusion, this is one of the important classics that every educated person needs to read and understand. Indeed, it is a story about the many twists and turns, happy times and tragic times we all experience in living with other human beings.Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Be aware, the 2016 hardcover version and the paperback 2008 version you see in the "look inside" are not the same books. My son fell in love with the older version we got at the library so much that we decided to order it. What came was a choppy comic book version lacking the rich story telling and the beautiful illustrations of the one we wanted. THESE ARE NOT THE SAME BOOKS! It's very deceiving to show one book and send something completely different. You have a very disappointed 5 year old on your hands.

Pyle's text and illustrations are true classics. This version is a deplorable rendition of it. The text appears to have been computer scanned with optical character recognition. Portions of the illustrations are mixed in with the text. Multiple nonsense sentences are thus produced on each page, and the illustrations lack titles or annotations.This version is nearly unreadable as a result.

I have been teaching for quite awhile now. In my important job, I was surprised to learn how many boys, now teenagers, had not read about King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. So, I took it upon myself to start sharing this book with them. What a world it opened up! Soon after, they rented First Night, and have enjoyed that version of the story, too. Teach the Classics, parents and friends! They need to know these fantastic stories.

I purchased this book because my 4 year old son is very interested in knights. I read this book to him, and my three year old daughter, a couple pages at a time and they loved it. The book is well written and I like that it does not dumb down the language. I had to explain what a couple words meant here and there but for the most part they understood. This turned or to be a great purchase.

This is a medium size story book for kids with black and while illustrations the inking of which reminds me of the Marvel comic style.The book has 21 chapters that cover the basic Arthurian saga. There are numerous pictures.Color would have had a dramatic impact, but I like B&W movies as well. I think B&W is better suited to 1940's Warner Brothers and 1960's French movies.

Obviously a great read, it really tells the Truth of human nature. But, unfortunately, it's kind of a disposable book - I would be willing to pay more for a fine-quality collector volume, something leather-clad and built for the long haul, a truly permanent book. It's really considered a child's book, so what you're going to find there is CHEAP, Too bad!

Good for an eight or nine year old (or older, depending on the child). My grandson loved reading it himself, but if you were reading it to your eight year old you might want to consider Pyle's version which this is Not. I thought it was. But it's a version of Pyle's version.

This is a great book for children. Your child can be exposed to the King Arthur legends in simpler language than the original books. You can either read these aloud as bedtime stories or have your second through fourth grader read them on their own.
