In the past, reading about the Book of Kells and seeing beautiful illuminated manuscript photos in history books sparked my interest in this book. The cover is of fabric and the illuminated pages are gorgeous to behold. This Book of Illuminated Psalms is enchanting! To me it is like holding a piece of history in my hand, not just because these are the Psalms of David, but because I can "pretend" that I have a book similar to one that past queens might have owned. I will give as a gift to someone I know will appreciate the illustrations and order another one for me.

I now know why no inside access is on the sale site. I’m very disappointed with the amount of illumination and the print quality. Not the inspiration I was hoping for.

I used these in conjunction to an Architectural design class I was teaching (Architecture is Elementary- awesome book btw). I liked the variety of stamps, and that they had samples on the cover of design elements. The book is great, but since I was using it with a class of 15 we didn't use that much. My complaint is that, not that I've had the set for 5 years, one of the sets is wrapping on the biggest stamps. I wrote the company and they did replace, it so that's great! the other one is perfectly fine. Both seem to frustrate the perfectionist bit, because it's really hard to stamp, especially with the smaller ones, and not get the edge of the square stamp holder in the drawing. I didn't mind it. I don't have COD and I'm not here to sell my stamp art :), but it made a few of the kids want to hurl them across the room. I would- & have- used this with a classroom, as well as having it out for kids to play with freely when they visit my home.

This looks like could be a great thing for my students to use as a center or extra activity however the stamps were corroded and warped and didn't really work. My husband had this set as a child and he said he absolutely loved it, however me afraid that the package that I received was also about 20 years old. The seller did allow for a refund with no problems.

Loved this as a kid and wanted to get for our nephew who loves architecture. Item was in plastic and clearly unused but stamps were warped and completely ineffective.

this is a fun, engaging way to get kids excited about the elementsof architecture by introducing the principles with fun stamps. Thestamp pad included was fresh and had plenty of ink.

The idea of this set is fantastic, and the book enclosed is a great resource about spatial configuration and architecture. However, the stamps are extremely sub-par. Too petite and of a very low quality plastic, they do not pick up the ink well. Over half of the stamps in my set were warped, rendering them useless.I would not recommend this set, and am extremely glad I tested mine before giving it as a gift.

Some of the other reviewers said the stamps were warped, and so were the stamps that I received. Basically useless. It would have been fun had they worked.

Must read for any military leader. We have a problem with toxic leadership, and I can confirm the author's assessment of the toxicity in this command. While I wasn't there, I worked for two of the people involved after they had been PROMOTED and sent to the pentagon.

This is an important story, but it sometimes a challenge to read. Unless you're already familiar with military structure and routines, it's sometimes hard to follow the story. Once I finished the book, I realized there were some appendixes with additional clarifying information, but I didn't know they were there until I was done. There are also a lot of people involved in this story and it was sometimes hard to keep things straight, especially regarding their conflicts.Frederick decided to situation the horrific murders of an Iraqi family in the larger context of U.S. military dysfunction. I think this probably was the right context, but it had the unfortunate impact of sometimes making the family seem like side characters in the story of their own murder.

"Black Hearts" is a brilliant description of combat as seen through the eyes of Bravo Company in the darkest days of the Iraq War. It serves as a case study for the negative impacts of poor leadership in today's Army and the general effects of heavy combat on young and strung-out soldiers.Frederick tells his story masterfully, obviously passionate about his subject, but remaining subjective enough to where he is able to describe things in such a manner that the reader is able to make their own decisions. This story is nothing short of a tragedy, and by the end, the reader is absolutely appalled at much of the cast of characters, many of whom work to bring about a series of horrible events for all parties involved.. The description of daily life is unbelievable for anyone who thinks they knew what the war was like for American troops. The multi-day stints at poorly defended checkpoints manned by three or four privates with zero supervision is something I didn't realize happened. The descriptions of combat are also top-notch, particularly one very gripping passage about the mental anguish soldiers faced while simply driving around, wondering if each second would be their last at the hands of a massive IED.Many characters in the story are sympathetic, generally at the platoon or company level, while the battalion level leadership is shown to be infuriatingly incompetent. I was especially incensed at the end, where you find out (SPOILER ALERT) that Kunk was promoted to colonel and Bravo's sympathetic yet clearly incompetent commander is an operations officer somewhere in the Army. Frederick doesn't make these judgements, but it is difficult not to make them yourself, for right or wrong. The abduction of US troops and the murder of an Iraqi family, while horrifying in their own right and very well described, are almost caveats to the overall story about this ill-fated group of men trying to survive their year in Iraq.Overall, this is an incredible book that serves to show a lot of what was (and still is) wrong with the Army's senior leadership. Still, even though there are antagonists at every level here, Frederick isn't indicating the US Army; there are good guys too, and plenty of them, which the author makes extremely clear. I'm glad to see the Army is taking this book seriously and using it as a learning tool for its leaders. This is a hugely important book and I can't thank Jim Frederick enough for writing it.

The fog of war at its worst. Black Hearts is the story of poor command and bad judgement. An indictment of the armies chain of command that led to a total breakdown of moral responsibility. The characters are real and sickening, anyone who served with honor and dignity must read this as the very worst in military leadership. The fact Kunk is still in the military is a disgrace.

This is a good book to tell the story of First Strike and the events surrounding the rape of the 14 yr old Iraqi girl, Abeer. It is also a story of mismanagement that goes all the way to the top and Rumsfeld's saying you go to war with the army you have when it was obvious we were not using all of our army. Instead the troops were told to do more with less. This does not excuse misconduct and rape/murder. As usual these were crimes of opportunity. When this story first came out, Green was portrayed as the leader and instigator of the crime. He participated for sure especially in the murders but the initial rape idea was not his. Also, the initial stories portrayed the Army as trying to cover this up. That is not true. And these impressions sold by the media are corrected in this book.

Okay, so this product is tiny. Itty bitty. So small. But the joy it brings is HUGE. I absolutely loved painting my mini Bob Ross paintings. The brush and paints aren't half bad, but you do need to build the paint up a bit the opacity you want from the color. Regardless, awesome product.

I ordered this TINY paint by numbers to go along with my Bob Ross to go on my desk at work. The description says it is small ... that is what you will get. I have not actually painted just yet with the materials. You get three paint by number designs, they are on a cardboard backing. Be sure to hang on to the directions ... they will tell you the paint/numbers for the design (or you can do your own thing ... whatever makes you happy). I show Bob in my picture ... he is sold SEPARATELY, but he is so cute...they are a great combo. Would make a great office gift or white elephant gift.

This is perfect for what I wanted to go with my Bob Ross Funko Pop! It's a great addition to my Funko collection at work and looking at him, and the painting, makes me smile. It took me an hour to paint this picture, while I watched TV, and the trickiest part was the color blending, but that was a fun challenge. Ignore the fact my large tree looks like Godzilla, as my 12 year old pointed out. As Bob says, it's just a happy little accident. I'm looking forward to painting the other two pictures and, for the money, this is just a fun little activity and is perfect for what I wanted it for. Bob standing alone, with just his palette, would have been sad and this completes the set. Thanks!

This is really cute. These are office gift size, like the rack of office gifts you see at Barnes and Nobel. Paintings are roughly business card size.

Tiny tiny tiny; do not buy. Would give it no stars if it was an option. Returned.

So it’s hard for me to say anything negative about something that involves Bob Ross but this kit was a lot smaller than I imagined. I was expecting maybe a size of notebook paper but not as small as a deck of cards. I should have read the description better though so it’s not the fault of the seller. Just be aware that it is small! But it’s cute and we will paint it because it’s Bob Ross.

Came earlier today & i had to laugh! It's the cutest little...Er MINI paint set i ever bought! I even got to paint Bob Ross! How cool is that?! Will keep buying his stuff.🎨

There are a few different versions of this songbook, and unfortunately the reviews seem to be confusing as some people said it was very easy while others said it is extremely difficult. Some reviews are even for the soundtrack CD! How do you know which one you're getting, when all the reviews are lumped together??? I wanted to make sure I was getting a version for my child was neither too easy nor too difficult. I did a little research on Sheet Music Plus. Just make sure to check the ISBN number on the version you are ordering off Amazon. Here are the descriptions:ISBN 0634029827 Piano/Keyboard - SMP Primer Level (Early Elementary) Very beginning music. Five-finger positions with no chords and almost no hand position movement. This book has duet part for the teacher.ISBN 0634029800 Piano/Keyboard - SMP Level 4 (Intermediate) Introduction of 4-note chords and sixteenth notes. Hand movement covering 2 to 3 octaves.ISBN 0634029797 Piano/Keyboard - SMP Level 7 (Late Intermediate) 4 to 5-note chords in both hands and scales in octaves in both hands.

If you are a good enough pianist that you can play the type of piano arrangements that are called "advanced" in the pop world (or equivalently, low-intermediate level in the classical piano world)....and you want the most authentic, close-to-the-original Vince Guaraldi piano solo arrangements that you can get, my advice is to go with "The Vince Guaraldi Collection" (ISBN-13: 978-0-634-03099-4), which I will hence refer to as the "VGC" book. Having said that, I also bought this book ("A Charlie Brown Christmas," ISBN-13 978-0-634-02979-0, which I will hence refer to as the "CBC" book) because it contained a song I wanted that was not in the VGC book (I wanted the song "Christmas is Coming"). It seems that all the other versions of the CBC book are some sort of severely dumbed-down "Easy Piano"/"Beginner"/"E-Z Play" etc. version...making this version of the CBC book the most authentic Christmas-themed Guaraldi tunes that you can get, for those songs that ARE NOT in the "Guaraldi Collection" book. For those songs that ARE in both books (such as the ever-popular "Linus and Lucy"), definitely go with the VGC book, because even this relatively advanced version of the CBC book does some shortening and slight dumbing-down compared to that better book. For example, in "Linus and Lucy," the CBC book version entirely omits one of the two 16-bar improv sections that are sandwiched in-between the sections with the familiar "Linus and Lucy" theme (it only has the second one), while the VGC book has both. That, plus the use of repeats/Da Capo shorten the CBC book version of "Linus and Lucy" down to four pages -- versus eight pages in the VGC book.

I love this book! It’s unlike any book I’ve ever purchased. It’s velvet and scarlet colored. Gorgeous.

I used this set for an Elf on the Shelf scene. The girls unwrapped a few early presents under the tree including the little book. Then the next morning they found their elf reading the book next to the little tree. The scene was a hit, but the tree, as you can see in the picture, is seriously lacking.It doesn't look like the picture in the ad at all. The little green bristles are just plastic, so they don't bend or fan out. I pulled and bent as much as I could, but it started to fall apart. If they had actually given us the tree from the picture I think this would absolutely be worth the $10. But what you get is something you could easily make much cuter yourself with far less money.

Perhaps somewhere in the description the dimensions of this product are stated, but if it is SO small that the book is the size of a post-it note, it should be advertised as some sort of miniature set! Or toy for elves. Or something other than "Collectible Set". Also the pieces don't really stand on their own- most will tip over if you flutter your eyelashes, and a few cannot even stand upright because the bottoms are cut wonky- and the unlevel cut prevents them from standing up. :( So, if you can't display them, and you can't read the book unless you have a magnifying glass, how do we enjoy it?!? Glad i didn't spend much. I should have known.

Great songbook! I picked this up to play some of the songs for a Christmas dinner this year. The arrangements seem very true to the recording, aside from all of Vince's fancy solos, which I'm not really up to playing anyway :) There is something magical about being able to play the opening to O Tannenbaum, just like on the record. Very pleased with my purchase.I purchased the Kindle version and was able to view it on my iPad for practicing using the Kindle app. Saved a few bucks, got access right away, and was able to start practicing.This review is for this version: A Charlie Brown Christmas(TM) Songbook which is the "advanced" version of this songbook. If you are looking for the arrangements that are true to the recording, this is the one you want. Cheers!

This is our favorite Christmas show and the book is just beautiful. It was a wonderful addition to our Advent traditions. Even though my son is 11 he still loves the Charlie Brown specials and enjoyed reading this with me. The book is very sturdy and feels a lot more expensive than it was. It is a hardcover of cloth with a glossy picture and it's a pretty large book. Nice to have out at Christmas time.

I Looked Through It, And It Wants You To *Draw* Things To *Add* to The *Page*, Like: "Who Could Be Watching A Movie With Snoopy?! Draw them"*(*Or, Something like that!! Lol) Or: "What Could Snoopy Be Playing With Outside?!"*(*Example: Tennis Racket, Baseball bat, etc) I thought it was a Book about Drawing the *Characters*, like My Daughter had Mentioned to Me, but it's not. It still looks like a Interesting book, if Your Child likes to Draw, like Mine Does!!:-)

Great reference books for the A YEAR WITH MY CAMERA COURSE.

Haven’t used it test- class starts in May.

Basic, basic. Great for real beginners. Giving it to my granddaughter as she is preteen and loves to read and put into practice.

I'm working my way through the 1st book now.

A very handy book - lots of good information

Have yet to look thru book 2, but anxious to get started.

This year-long class can be completed without the books, BUT if you want the best photography resource you will ever own in hand during the class and afterwards, buy both books! There is a bit more "meat" in the chapters of The books than in the emails....although I used both The emails and The books. The class is legit, and the books will support you as you grow in your art, even after the class ends.
